Mental Health Support: What's Available on the NHS

You Don't Have to Wait for Your GP

Mental health support is available through several NHS pathways, and some don't require a GP referral at all.

Self-Referral Services

NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT)

You can refer yourself directly for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • PTSD
  • OCD
  • Phobias

How: Search "NHS Talking Therapies" + your area, or ask your GP. Wait times: Usually 6-18 weeks, but you'll get an initial assessment much sooner.
